Doro Soul Food

Doro Soul Food infuses traditional American soul food with Ethiopian flavors. The restaurant, open since 2022, is Michelin-starred Chef Elias Taddesse’s second D.C. business venture— he also owns popular burger joint Mélange in Mount Vernon Triangle.

The menu at features crispy, buttermilk-marinated fried chicken and sandwiches. Choose your chicken’s spice level on a three-point scale (from mild to very hot) and pair it with a classic soul food side dish like Doro Wot-flavored mac and cheese topped with bread and injera crumbs or turkey-braised collar greens blended with Ethiopian spices. If you’re plant-based, Chef Elias offers vegan versions of his delicious tenders made from pea protein or jackfruit.
